Gold Market Surprises: Prices in Pakistan Drop Amidst Global Price Hike

KARACHI – Even though gold prices have been going up around the world, they went down in Pakistan on Saturday.

The price of gold (24 carats) went down by Rs200 per tola and Rs172 per 10 grammes, according to information from the All-Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association (APSGJA).

Due to changes that were not expected, the new price of the yellow metal is Rs208,200 per tola and Rs178,495 per 10g.

The price of the expensive metal went up on the international market and stopped at $1,925 per ounce.

This week, the new loan programme from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) caused the local currency to rise sharply while gold fell in value.
